Curtain Players is joining with others among the state’s community theatre companies Labor Day weekend to make a little magic.

The Magic Show is the theme for Ohio Community Theatre Association’s annual state conference, this year based in Columbus at the Crowne Plaza North, 6500 Doubletree Avenue.

Complete details about the event, including the various packages and fees, and how to register are available on the OCTA website. The state conference is highlighted by presentation of excerpts from member theatres. OCTA responders at regional festivals determined the invitees and alternates. Workshops and social events are also on the schedule.

Curtain Players will stage an excerpt from its February 2017 production of Alan Ball’s Five Women Wearing the Same Dress. Curtain Players in June won nine awards at OCTA’s Central Region showcase in Gambier and the invitation to join other regional invitees and alternates to present at the state conference.

OCTA has scheduled Curtain Players and Five Women for an 8 PM staging Saturday September 2.

The OCTA mission statement: To promote excellence and creativity in live theatre by providing its members educational opportunities for growth in artistic and technical aspects of theatre, and to promote community awareness and understanding of, and access to, live theatre alone or in conjunction with other arts organizations, educational institutions and other theatre organizations.
