Wendy Darling is an unpublished script by New York playwright Ira Hauptman, and the work is receiving its first-ever fully staged production at Curtain Players.

In Hauptman’s darkly comic version of the Peter Pan story, Wendy’s mother sets in motion a journey that threatens to change her family forever. This is not a children’s production, the play is written for appreciation by audiences ages 13 and older.

Grossberg’s bylined story with a Jerri Shafer photo includes quotes from Hauptman, director Heather Schultz, and actors Megan Lear (Mrs. Darling), and Elizabeth Harelik (Wendy Darling).

Curtain times at the 5691 Harlem Road playhouse are 8 PM Fridays and Saturdays September 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23, and 2 PM Sundays September 17 and 24. Click here to order tickets.

Hauptman will visit Curtain Players for performances September 16 and 17. Curtain Players will honor the playwright at a 6 PM playhouse reception on Saturday September 16, and he will give a pre-performance talk. He will attend the Sunday September 17 matinee and stay for the Curtain Panels audience talk back.
