Curtain Players reminds the central Ohio theatre community of its next script info session and audition, for its February staging of Lettice and Lovage by Peter Shaffer.

The script info session for Lettice and Lovage is set for Thursday November 9 at 6:30 PM with the audition Sunday November 19 (registration at 6:30 PM, tryout at 7). Each event is at the 5691 Harlem Road (Galena OH 43021) playhouse.

Click here for details, including character descriptions. Lettice and Lovage is described as warm and charming comedy from the author of Amadeus and Equus about a flamboyant tour guide consigned to the "dullest castle in England" who embellishes its history until she is confronted by her fact-conscious boss.

Hal Houston directs this production, set for performances February 9-25. New to Curtain Players, this is Houston’s first Columbus area production, coming here with a BA in Theatre Directing from California State University, Long Beach, and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of San Francisco. He has more than 30 years experience in acting and directing, with his favorite productions so far being The Sound of Music and Sweeney Todd.

The script info session is an opportunity for actors to become acquainted with the community theatre organization, to discuss the play with the director, and to ask questions about the audition process, rehearsal period, and production plans. Those interested in working behind the scenes are also invited to attend.

Curtain Players conducts open auditions. Roles are not cast in advance. Actors are encouraged to be familiar with the script. Resumes and head shots are helpful. An early audition may be requested of the director. The request for an early Lettice and Lovage audition must be made no later than November 2. Those requests and any questions may be directed to production@curtainplayers.org
