Curtain Receives 32 BroadwayWorld Noms

Curtain Players has received 32 nominations in the 2017 BroadwayWorld Columbus Regional Awards program, including a nod for Theatre of the Year.

The reader-decided awards program recognizes productions that opened between October 1 2016 and September 30 2017. According to the BroadwayWorld website, award nominees are determined solely by reader submission. Once entries are verified for eligibility, the nominee rosters are presented for reader vote, with winners announced in early January.

Voting – continuing through December 31 – is open to anyone. Click here to see full nominations list and to vote. Voters must register on the site with their e-mail address to complete and to submit ballots.

The nominees in 27 categories for local, high school/college/education, community, professional theatres were announced Tuesday November 14 on the Columbus regional page of the national broadwayworld.com website. Curtain Players is represented in 13 of those 27 categories, the 32 nods a best-ever showing for Curtain Players in this annual reader-decided recognition program.

Curtain Players is among nominees for Theatre of the Year.

The Diary of Anne Frank, Rabbit Hole, and Wendy Darling are among nominees for Best Play/Community Theatre.

Wendy Darling is nominated in the Best Original Play category.

Marla Williams (The Diary of Anne Frank), Kate Tull (Rabbit Hole), and Heather Schultz (Wendy Darling) are among nominees for Best Direction of a Play.

Casey Merkey (The Diary of Anne Frank) is among nominees for Best Leading Actor in a Play.

Mackenzie Joseph (The Diary of Anne Frank), Cheryl Muller (Anne of Green Gables)Alli Loeffert (Five Women Wearing the Same Dress), Kathryn Miller (Rabbit Hole), Sarah Merkey (Trevor) and Elizabeth Harelik (Wendy Darling) are among nominees for Best Leading Actress in a Play.

Isaac Rittberger (Rabbit Hole) is among nominees in Best Young Actor Under Age 18.

Mackenzie Joseph (The Diary of Anne Frank), Mckinley Witt (Anne of Green Gables) are among nominees in Best Young Actress Under Age 18.

James F. Petsche (The Diary of Anne Frank), Cheryl Muller (Anne of Green Gables), Lindsay Brooks (Five Women Wearing the Same Dress), Susie McGarry (Five Women Wearing the Same Dress), Mary Trapp Gray (Rabbit Hole) is among nominees in Best Actor (regardless of gender or size of role) in a Play/Community Theatre.

Booth Muller (The Diary of Anne Frank and Rabbit Hole) received two nods for Best Scenic Design. Neil Aring (Wendy Darling) is also among nominees in the category.

Stephen Elliot Moore (The Diary of Anne Frank) is among nominees for Best Lighting Design.

Eric Ewing (The Diary of Anne Frank) is among nominees for Best Sound Design.

Joyce Leahy (The Diary of Anne Frank), Julie Emmert Silvius (Five Women Wearing the Same Dress), Sharon Jones Reeb (Alice: A Variation on Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland), and Tasha Naneth (Wendy Darling) are among nominees for Best Costume Design.
