Posted: Monday, November 20, 2017, 5:51am
It may be Thanksgiving week in late autumn, but Curtain Players reminds everyone of the company’s script info session/audition schedule for its spring productions this 2017-18 season.
Next on the calendar: The script info session and open audition for The Trip to Bountiful are scheduled for Thursday January 4 and Sunday January 14, respectively. The script info session and open audition for Exit the King follow shorty after, Monday January 29 and Sunday February 11, respectively.
SCRIPT INFO SESSIONS Script info sessions unless otherwise indicated are scheduled for 6:30 PM at the playhouse, 5691 Harlem Road (Galena OH 43021).
The Trip to Bountiful… Thursday January 4
Exit the King… Monday January 29 (at Westerville Public Library)
Curtain Players offers a script info session for each of its productions. The event is an opportunity for actors to become acquainted with the community theatre organization, to review the script, to discuss the play with the director (who will be present), and to ask questions about the audition process, rehearsal period, and production plans. Directors may choose to offer sides from the script in advance at this event. Those interested in working behind the scenes are also invited to attend to learn more about the project.
AUDITIONS Curtain Players conducts one evening of auditions for each of its productions. All auditions are conducted at the Harlem Road playhouse. Registration begins at 6:30 PM with actual auditions to begin promptly at 7 o’clock.
The Trip to Bountiful… Sunday January 14
Exit the King… Sunday February 11
Curtain Players conducts open auditions. Roles are not cast in advance. Casting decisions are made by the director and a casting committee. The committee includes a member of the theatre board, a general member of the organization, and individual(s) of the director’s choosing.
Actors are encouraged to come to auditions familiar with the script and ready to read from the script. (Scripts are available in circulation at the Westerville Public Library.) Every effort will be made to give all actors equal chances to read, at least twice. Resumes and head shots are helpful. Directors may specify audition activities particular to their individual productions.
In the event that someone wishing to audition is not available to attend on the appointed date, an early audition may be requested of the director. Early auditions are granted solely at the director’s discretion. The request for an early audition must be made no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled audition date.
