Curtain Players has welcomed several more actors to its production of Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful, opening March 23 at the 5691 Harlem Road playhouse.
Director James F. Petsche has announced that Emily Turner has joined the company, taking the part of Jessie Mae.
Julie Emmert Silvius, Ruedy Leeman, and Randy Lenhart are also new to the cast, joining Barbara Leeman as the travelers. Ruedy Leeman and Randy Lenhart are also cast as ticket agents.
They join the previously announced Nita Dean as Carrie Watts, with Brian Henry playing the part of her son Ludie Watts; Maci Bingman as Thelma; Randy Benge as the sheriff; and Darnell Lautt as Roy.
Set in the late 1940s, Horton Foote’s play tells of Carrie Watts, an aging widow who runs away from her son Ludie and daughter-in-law Jessie Mae and their cramped Houston apartment to realize her dearest dream: to return to her beloved hometown, Bountiful. What starts as an ordinary trip soon becomes an inspiring and life-changing journey of discovery.
Curtain Players presents The Trip to Bountiful March 23-25, 30-31, and April 6-8 at the 5691 Harlem Road playhouse. There is no performance on Easter Sunday, April 1.
