Nineteen Curtain Players recently shared their time and talents to construct scenery for the community theatre’s upcoming production of The Trip to Bountiful.
Seventeen volunteers participated in the Bountiful Set Build Saturday on March 3. Two more Players were on site earlier in the week.
The set construction project team includes Randy Benge, Doug Browell, Jeff Cramlet, Denise Dumouchelle, Julie Emmert-Silvius, Jack Halada, Brian N. Henry, Carolyn Jakubczak, Jeanine Joseph, Michael Joseph, Sarah Joseph, Alli Loeffert, Ruth Luketic, John Maassel, James F. Petsche, Mario Salvador, Amy Weinhold, and Alice Young. The Trip to Bountiful set designer Booth Muller leads the effort.
James F. Petsche directs the Horton Foote play, opening its run Friday March 23 at the 5691 Harlem Road playhouse.
Curtain Players presents The Trip to Bountiful at 8 PM March 23-24, 30-31, and April 6-7, with 2 o’clock matinees Sundays March 25 and April 8. There is no performance on Easter Sunday, April 1. Tickets are on sale now. Click here to order.
Set in post-World War II southeast Texas, Horton Foote’s play tells of Carrie Watts, an aging widow who runs away from her son Ludie and daughter-in-law Jessie Mae and their cramped Houston apartment to realize her dearest dream: to return to her beloved hometown, Bountiful. What starts as an ordinary trip soon becomes an inspiring and life-changing journey of discovery.
