Curtain Players continues its Curtain Panels audience talk back program following the 2 PM Sunday March 25 performance of The Trip to Bountiful. Director James F. Petsche, the cast, and available creative/technical team members will meet with the audience following the show to discuss the script and the production.

Tickets for The Trip to Bountiful are available on this website. Tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for senior citizens and students. Click here.

Curtain Players presents The Trip to Bountiful at 8 PM March 23-24, 30-31, and April 6-7, with 2 o’clock matinees Sundays March 25 and April 8. There is no performance on Easter Sunday, April 1.

Set in post-World War II southeast Texas, Horton Foote’s play tells of Carrie Watts, an aging widow who runs away from her son Ludie and daughter-in-law Jessie Mae and their cramped Houston apartment to realize her dearest dream: to return to her beloved hometown, Bountiful. What starts as an ordinary trip soon becomes an inspiring and life-changing journey of discovery.

Following one performance in each Curtain Players production’s run — usually the first Sunday matinee — the director, actors, and available designers and technicians gather on stage for a question-and-answer session with the audience. This is an opportunity for an informal conversation about such topics as a play’s subject matter, the challenge of staging the production, a director’s choices and vision, technical and behind-the-scenes design work, and how actors prepare for their roles.

Formally established in 2010, Curtain Panels is one of ongoing initiatives Curtain Players has developed to increase audience appreciation of and engagement in the organization and its productions, and more broadly, with theatre arts no matter the stage.
