'Wendy' to OCTA; Open Rehearsal May 31

Posted: Thursday, May 10, 2018, 2:26pm

Curtain Players patrons are invited to attend an open rehearsal of an excerpt from Wendy Darling Thursday May 31 at 7:30 PM at the 5691 Harlem Road playhouse. This is a free event with no reservations or ticketing required.

Wendy Darling is representing Curtain Players at the Ohio Community Theatre Association Central Region Festival Saturday June 2 at Kenyon College’s The Hill Theatre, 203 College Park Street, in Gambier.

The May 31 rehearsal at the playhouse is an opportunity for the Curtain Players community to cheer its home team before the big event.

A final schedule – including when Wendy Darling takes the stage – and ticket information for the June 2 event is forthcoming from OCTA.

Director Heather Schultz leads the Wendy Darling cast and crew in staging an excerpt for the event, in which OCTA’s member theatres stage scenes from plays presented during their recent seasons. A panel of responders evaluates the presentations, offering constructive criticism and recognizing achievements in acting, direction, and stagecraft. At least one theatre company will be invited to take the excerpt to OCTA’s state conference in Columbus Labor Day weekend.

Wendy Darling by Ira Hauptman received its first-ever fully staged production at Curtain Players. The production played eight performances at the Harlem Road playhouse September 8-24. Randy Benge, Elizabeth Harelik, Brian Henry, Mackenzie Joseph, Jeff Kemeter, Ken Kline, Megan Lear, and Cody Schmid comprised the cast for Hauptman’s play, a darkly comic version of the Peter Pan story in which Wendy's mother sets in motion a journey that threatens to change her family forever.
