Curtain Players rang out the old year – the 2017-18 season, that is – with a day of community effort.

Thirteen volunteers joined Technical Director Booth Muller for the community theatre company’s annual summer cleanup day Saturday June 30. The goal of the event was to have the Harlem Road playhouse in order for the 2018-19 production year that officially began July 1. It is Season 56 for Curtain Players.

The day’s work crew included Sean Brinker, Wendy Brinker, Jeff Cramlet, Denice Dumouchelle, Brian Henry, Ruth Luketic, John Maassel, Justin Malenky, Stephen Moore, Deanne Reed, Laura Tirronen, Drew Washburn, and Alice Young. This team contributed 52.5 volunteer hours one what was one of the hottest and most humid days of the summer.

According to Muller, who coordinated and oversaw the event, the volunteers accomplished much, including: exterior painting; spraying of poison ivy and other weeds; taking down, checking and replacing all the electric lighting cables; complete emptying and reorganizing of the storage shed; straightening and reorganizing of the light booth; straightening and reorganizing of the concession corner; and removal of toilets in anticipation of floor retiling and other restroom improvements.
