President Heather Schultz was named Curtain Players Volunteer of the Year for the 2019-2020 season during the theatre’s annual membership meeting conducted online Sunday May 31. Schultz has been active with Curtain Players since 2015 when she directed Zombies from the Beyond.

The nomination letter is excerpted here: "Her involvement and influence are nearly ubiquitous. She serves as president of the board of directors. She has been acting Production Manager… She’s a member of the season selection committee, and the capital improvements committee. She wrote and directed last summer’s Harlem Township Days play and is substantially re-writing it…” for future presentations.

“She has directed a play for us in prior regular seasons and has committed to directing next season as well. I don’t believe she trod the boards this past season, but she has in the past. I think no one is more committed to the welfare and the future welfare of Curtain Players Theatre than Heather. … Heather’s energy and optimism are unflagging and a pleasure to behold. She deserves to be recognized."

The Volunteer of the Year honor is a peer-driven award. The recipient each year is determined by the theatre’s board, selected from those nominated in essays submitted by fellow Curtain Players.
